Daniel E. Burgoyne joins the Executive Board of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America

RCFP’s Daniel E. Burgoyne has been selected to join the Executive Board of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America.  He will serve as Chairman of the Northwest Service Area, which covers Providence County, Rhode Island (except for East Providence) and the bordering Massachusetts towns of Uxbridge, Millville, Blackstone, and Bellingham.  As Chairman, his responsibilities will include recruiting key volunteers and providing leadership and direction to the Service Area Committee.  He will provide support to nearly 100 local Scouting units and will oversee the service area’s finance, membership, program, and unit service functions.

The Narragansett Council, BSA, which is headquartered in East Providence, Rhode Island, is part of a worldwide Scouting movement with over 15 million members in one hundred countries.  It receives its charter from the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, which is based in Irving, Texas.  The origins of the Narragansett Council trace back to September 6, 1910, and as such it is one of the United States’ oldest councils.  Its coverage area includes virtually all of Rhode Island, a small portion of Connecticut, and approximately thirty cities or towns in southeastern Massachusetts including New Bedford, Taunton, Fall River and Attleborough.
